CAKES

Selecting your wedding cake is a part of planning that even your groom will be interested in and it’s probably one of the best parts! Cakes are available through catering companies, bakeries, grocery retailers and even hotels. There has also been an increase of private bakers who work out of their homes, so make sure to pole your friends to find out who they may know. When asking around, don’t be afraid to ask for a portfolio or references, and ask for an honest evaluation of job performance. When meeting with the cake designer, you should be able to taste and sample for FREE and depending on what you are looking for, you should be able to select from a variety of options.

Your consultation should help you decide on flavor, colors, style, size and shape. Make sure that you are clear on what services are included in the bottom line cost and what may be added in as extra fees or charges. You also should find out how far ahead of time the cakes are made. You want a cake that is as fresh as possible.

Another good rule to remember is that cake doesn’t generally freeze well. So, ask your designer if a "First Anniversary" cake is included in your package. It will taste a lot better than cake that’s been frozen for a year and it’s a great way to celebrate your successful completion of your first year of matrimony!
